Toyota: the cars

Until just recently Toyota was the largest and most successful car company in the world and with its easy, accessible designs, not to mention the affordable price tag, it isn’t hard to see why. So, let’s take a closer look at some of the models that catapulted the Japanese giant into the stratosphere.

The 1980 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was – and is, there’re still plenty about – a beast of a machine. Larger, tougher and more robust than previous models, Americans especially fell in love with the brutish FJ40 which enjoyed a production run of an impressive 24 years!

Next up: the Toyota Camry. Introduced in 1992, the Camry might just be the definition of quiet brilliance. Not at all flashy or in-your-face, the Camry glides its passengers along in understated luxury and comfort; and it’s among the best-selling cars of all time in the US.

Finally, we have the Toyota Prius. Not exactly a style icon (having said that, a lot of celebs drive them so maybe…), the Prius has proved to be a lucratively successful model for Toyota. Love it or hate it, the hybrid electric is truly a car of our time, for better or worse.
